Alnoorcet Quran Competition 2012 winners

Alhamdulillah, with a record number of 49 contestants, the 1st Annual Alnoorcet Quran Competition winners were announced and awarded trophies, medals and cash prizes at the closing ceremony held at Alnoorcet Islamic Centre, Barking on Mon 4th June 2012.

The Quran Competition is an annual event organised by Alnoor Cultural & Educational Trust to recognise the efforts of Muslim children, especially those who attend madaris, in memorising the Quran and encouraging them to upgrade their level of competence in reading the Quran.

This year, a record number of 49 contestants actually participated in the Competition from defferent madaris. The contestants‚ ages spread from 6 to 16 years. The Competition was held in two phases: the knock out stage on May 7; then 34 finalists competed in the final on Jun 4. The Competition included 7 categories.

The judging panel that oversaw the competition was comprised of qualified hafidhs and scholars; Sheikh AbdulMannaan of Islam Channel, Sheikh Abdulfatah (who is the holder of ijaaza in 4 Qiraa'ah) and Sheikh Yusuf Al-Naufaly.

Sheikh Abdulmanan and Sheikh Abdulfatah gave speech of ecouragement to perticipants, parents and teachers. They were pleased with the Quran recitation and hifdh level in the competition.

Brother Daud Juneja, the chairman of Alnoor Cultural & Educational Trust also gave his speach to the guests. He said he was touched by the Quran recitation and especially the tashjee session where a contestant is asked to read a verse number so and so from surah so and so, or the judge would read a verse and the contenstant should tell the judge the ayah number and the name of the surah from which that ayah was read.

During the award ceremony Brother Daud Juneja presented trophies to winners from 6 categories and a medal to Qiraa'ah winner with cash prizes. The runners up from each category were presented with medals and cash prizes. And all the contestants that participated in the Competition received certificates of perticipation. Yet, the reward from Allah for those who memorise and recite the Qur'an is unparalleled and unmatched.

On behalf of the Competition Organising Committee we would like to thank and congratulate the contestants, their parents and teachers for their efforts in memorising the Quran. we also express our appreciation for the relentless efforts of the volunteers, the generosity of the donors and the judging panel to have put together such a successful event.
